First,
We're pregnant!!!
I attributed my "symptoms" to being sick and the fact that moving is always stressful. Well, after some more obvious signs- we took another test. Instant plus sign. While I'd like to say excitement was my first emotion- I actually felt really nervous. I shouldn't have but with some of the challenges during my first pregnancy, I suddenly felt very unprepared to do this again. This coupled with hormones- made for a somewhat scared Mommy.
This is where my Husband put on his super hero cape. He was wonderful at reminding me all the things that lead up this baby and how great things are now; to welcome this person into the world. Reminding me of the space and resources we have now. Still, he didn't have to get fat and THEN push out a baby through delicate area. However when it comes to being supportive- he's my #1. When it comes to late night feedings and diaper duty I am never left to do it alone.
With our first son together- we didn't do a special announcement. I was so darn excited to tell everyone I knew and their brother-in-law's second cousin twice removed I just went out and said it. This time around I wanted to do something different. A first pregnancy is celebrated because you greet motherhood for the first time, with this pregnancy I wanted to make it special as well. Now, J is too young to understand another baby yet, however K is totally of an age to understand. I think telling him was my favorite part. We sat him down and said "K, do you remember when J was in my tummy?" "yeah" "Well, what if we did that again? How would you feel about another brother or sister?" He got the biggest smile first he said "A BROTHER" then he thought a minute and said "No, wait- a sister."
This is where my best friend came to the rescue! She was one of the few who knew the very night we discovered we were pregnant and gave us oodles of support and encouragement. We told a few family and friends though we wanted to save most of that for the big announcement. She offered to help me with anything and I asked her if she'd help me make a neat pregnancy announcement.
So to Pinterest we went. We got some ideas and we met for pictures! Everything came together so nicely! I loved how the color scheme of pink and blue really showed but was still somewhat subtle. So, without further ado- here are our pregnancy announcement pics:

Thank you all for sharing in our joy!! How did you announce your children? Did you keep it a secret or tell everyone right away?
Coming up: More on telling K about the baby and managing kids and pregnancy!!
