Pregnancy brings out weird little quirks for me. For example, it would seem my sense of smell is heightened. This drives my husband batty- because if the garbage smells just a little bit- it has to go, dirty combat boots- must be kept in other rooms- and so forth. However, one of the oddest of these little idiosyncrasies- I am suddenly totally terrified of spiders. I mean terrified.
I have never liked bugs. Rats and Mice- I can deal. Bats- I think they're adorable. Snakes- bring it on (unless they're poisonous).
Bugs- no freaking way. It took me several years into teenagehood to even be able to kill bugs by myself. Now, for the most part- spiders have never been lumped into my "bug phobia" Entomophobia or insectophobia- (vocab words anyone?) In fact for several years I kept a preserved one in a jar in my room- because it was HUGE and scary looking. I thought it was cool. If I saw a spider outside- I left it alone. If I found one inside- I would do my best to let it go outside. Spiders- eat bugs- so they were always pretty okay in my book.
Not. Any. More.
After everything we went through with J and the doctor telling me it was a hyper-allergy to spider bites. I am now completely freaked out by them. In the past two weeks- twice we have found spiders in my car. Twice now, it has lead to us pulling over and me jumping out of the car like a bat out of hell. The first one- my husband killed- the second one- I manged to myself. (I don't like killing innocent creatures, but I'm preggly and terrified so just give me this one). However the freak out I had, was embarrassingly large both times. I mean like really- if I'm saying it was over the top- trust me.
I'm fairly certain if I find one in our shower- ever- I will have to order a nuclear strike to our bathroom. I'm working on assembling the flame thrower for the day I inevitably find one in our bedroom and clearly have to set our mattress on fire. I'm waiting for Kai to prank me with one in the car again and film me. (Do NOT give that man ideas- I will murder him-dead). I thought it would be funny to add a "scary spider meme" to this post. I did not get past the first several "Google Image" pics until it was a great big NOPE!
