I picked my nephew up from preschool and we ran to a few places before picking up K from school. By the time we got home and I was looking for my phone- it was no where to be found. "Oh @$%#" is all I'm thinking. I went to 500 hundred places and could've lost it anywhere. First, we checked the house and the car throughly- no luck. Then we checked again. Still no phone. We only use one phone because it fits our budget best and we only need one. When "The" phone goes missing though, it poses a serious problem.
We then did the "trace your steps" where did you last have it- extensive search. I called the stores I visited and we even scoured the park where I had taken my nephew after I had picked him up. No luck. It had been running on very little battery so by this time it was dead and we were frustrated.
We figured we could manage a few days without our phone to conitnue to look for it before we went out and purchased a new one. That didn't go well. Kai missed a pick up for K at school Friday and the school had no way to call us. Can't have that. So, out we go to purchase a new phone. Thankfully we had a little extra we could spend on it but it tightened up the budget unncessarily.
Skip ahead to Sunday (today). I'm not feeling well and Hubster comes to pick me up from work, my Mom met him there to take the kids to Sunday school. In comes my Mom with a funny story. Still unused to calling a new number she dialed the old one. Only to have it call her back!!!! The only auidble thing she could make out were people going "Shhhh, shhhh". Assuming some jerk had stolen our phone or at the very least picked it up from the park and kept it- I figured I would try once again with the nightmare that is Straight Talk customer service to get the phone shut off.
It gets better. Mom takes the kids to church and sadly I don't get out of work until late and feel like crap so we just head home. Hubby decides to do some quick picking up in our living room. I then hear "Hunny, you're not going to believe this." "Hidden" under a magazine is our long lost cell phone!!! While I believe 2 year old J to be the culprit behind the theft, only 5 year old K would know to charge it so they could play with it. Both little stinkers kept it hidden from us when we were looking for it. This also means the little devils were the ones calling my Mom back this morning! Little voices going "shhh shh" like they're going to get caught by the person on the other end. She told that story right in front of them too and K totally kept his cool- slick.
As irritating as it was to drop money on a phone- money we needed to put toward other things, our old phone was glitching a lot and we needed a new one. So, while we did have to sit them down and explain that they can NOT take our phones- it could be worse. At least we still have our data and a back up phone in case we need it. Children. Oh boy!
