Meet Mandie and her two beautiful children. This mom is creating a wonderful magical childhood for her beautiful family. A Mother of two she and her partner-man "T" of four and a half years are rasing two adorable "creatures" as she calls them. A full time working mom who has always been crafty and is inspried by the "creatures" she raises. Her personal philosophy is to move with the flow of life. Not to sweat the small stuff (because it's all small stuff) and to keep life simple. A spiritual family with a core of being together.
Be it summer or winter, they are an outdoors family, continuing to stay active and utilizing the nature around them for family activites. While they do utilize the nature about them, they remain grateful for the gifts it brings. She's a mom who looks for the out of the ordinary to add something special to the everyday.
As we welcome the offical start of the summer season with the Summer Solstice; this mom has created fun, inspiring, and delightful crafts and activities with her children to celebrate this day. While I am all about the importance of educating and learning, I'm also a big believer in allowing children to believe in the magical. Fostering innocence and letting them believe. It keeps them young it keeps their imagination alive and to me that's just as important and learning about how the world works.
These crafts showcased the magic in the world.
Fairy. Over hill, over dale,
Thorough bush, thorough brier,
Over park, over pale,
Thorough flood, thorough fire,
I do wander everywhere,
Swifter than the moon's sphere;
And I serve the fairy queen,
To dew her orbs upon the green.
The cowslips tall her pensioners be:
In their gold coats spots you see;
Those be rubies, fairy favours,
In those freckles live their savours:
I must go seek some dewdrops here
And hang a pearl in every cowslip's ear.
Farewell, thou lob of spirits; I'll be gone:
Our queen and all our elves come here anon.
* A Midsummer Night's Dream *
Midsummer is famous for the thinning of the veil to see the fairies. Mandie and her children created "fairy doors" with her children.
They retrieved small sections of tree wood- some branches cut and some bark. Using these they fashioned a small Arch way and put in "fairy doors" and decorated them as a family. These could then be "put outside" to greet the fairies for Midsummer.
"My daughter wore hers so much I found flowers in her drawers.." Say's Mandie
These are simple ingredients you can find at a park or your backyard! .
More Fairy idea's include: *Finding a rock with a natural hole-
This is a called a "seeing stone" and
is said to allow you to see the fairies.
Four leaf clovers are said to do the same.
* Making "Fairy Food" sweet treats!
