Motherhood in itself is the "mother of" invention. Honestly, because motherhood is necessity. This "living enchanted" journey that we're on as a family has brought us closer.
This coming week is "policeman week".
Bringing Pirate Week to a close. As a working mother I wasn't able to get to every single activity. This is a part of life. However, it's because I desire to make the most out of my time with my children; that these awesome activities were born. We've made memories this week.

Pirate week continues! I love summer, I love getting out there and being in the sun. I finally had a day off work so we packed up the family and headed to the lake with friends. The water and the sandy beach lent well to this weeks activities! We made some great family memories here and I look forward to continuing. Personally, I'm a clean freak, my home does not always reflect this (two small children don't lend well to a clean house). However, germs are not my thing. So, I brought my own "Booty Bag" of things to make this day fun, and bacteria free. I love having a list: so here's mine: Baby-Wipes: Always, no matter where- they work for everything. You can make your own, I buy the supposed "natural" type from Huggies. We can't all incredible be Pinterest moms. Hand-Sanitizer: The obvious. Lysol Spray:: OR Hydrogen Peroxide spray to disinfect beach toys. Nuerotic Knowlege: the germs will happen, they will get on things, kids are made to survive. Pratice good hygiene and you will be fine. Other Things to Bring: Sunscreen: This is a must "Although skin cancer occurs in adulthood, it is caused by sun exposer and burn occuring in childhood." (See below for source). Protect your kids, now. Life-preservers: Unless they were wading, my children were in the arms of an adult with life-guard training. However, having child life-preservers is really good for any water play. WATER: drinkable bottled water, pop does not hydrate and in the hot sun it's really important to stay hydrated. For the Nuerotic (like me) and the super prepared: First Aid-Kit: Accident's happen- it's better to have this than not. Toys: A simple bucket and shovel are fun, water guns, and sand castle toys ar great too. Small snacks: We keep these for the ride home, then they won't be heading back into the water with stuff on their tummy but will give them something to eat after all that play. The Obvious: Towels Dry Clothes Now to the fun part! Kids will essentially entertain themselves. We opted not to bury our treasure box here, simply becasue with all the other kids and the water the interest level was low. If you lack other kids to play with, this is the perfect place to bury your treasure and find it again. What I did bring, were toy boats (now say that 3x fast). We used the boats in the water and once again practiced "Port side" and "starboard". We hunted for shells and treasure to take home. The area itself brought to life fun play and a great day. This trip cost us only some gas and some snacks but the memories we'll always get to keep. Little day trips are great for summer. The beach, be it by a lake, river, or ocean is an easy and awesome day. Skin Cancer Info: http://stonybrookmedicine.edu/patientcare/sunburn
