I would have loved to plant trees however that wasn't in the plans this year! So we planted flowers instead. We spent the afternoon out at the park, had a picnic lunch, and then we hopped over to our local Arboretum for some more fun and learning!
I love to plan and I love to do lessons with the kids, my original ideas got sort of thrown with the wind this day. As educational as I was hoping it would be, the kids mostly played. However they learned the 3 things plants need to live and they experienced life outside in some beautiful places.
As they get older we're hoping to volunteer at our Arboretum, I did as a teen and learned a lot. We are continuing our learning and today (about a week after our day of fun) we saw our first seedlings break through and are becoming plants! Check out some of the best pics from our Earth day fun!
I consider our Arboretum and wonderful local parks treasures of our community. I'm hoping this summer to head for a short drive up to the Botanical Gardens! What local treasures are in your area?
Special Thank you to Caitlynn Foxwell for the pictures and for joining us with her wonderful family!
