Because we're really smart!
I've been slow to unpack things and so most of my craft supplies are still in boxes. So bear with me. I made these all very simply. I found that you can buy kits online. I think with construction paper it would have been easier but I drew and colored everything myself. I just used what I had quickly at hand.
I made three "Paw Prints" and a "Handy-Dandy Notebook" for each of the boys. The Notebook's were simply a small piece of colored cardboard and some notebook paper attached. I think in the future using yellow note-pads would work well. I also made our own "Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper" so we had some friend's to accompany us! This could have been done a variety of ways, I had some plastic shakers so I used crayon to put the faces on. It was quick and simple.
To introduce the game to the kids (primarily K) I thought it would be fun to put them with "Blue". So I made these little pictures to start it off!
Before Kail came home I set up our "Blue's Clues adventure!"
We decided to have the kids figure out what's for supper! So I planted the appropriate "clues" around the house. We also decided what little side activities we'd do along with our Clue hunting. Mr. Salt and Mrs. Pepper would tell Kail they needed help: finding circles, counting can goods, and finding letters. We did one for each clue.
So, Kail slowly with some guidance located each paw print we'd placed around. He also participated in each little activity. He loved getting out his "Handy Dandy Notebook" and drawing his clues. After we finished we sat in our "Thinking Chair" and sang the songs and figured out what's for supper!
This was a really simple activity that we ended up really enjoying. K went on to making his own paw-print clue's and putting them up around the apartment for his brother. We told him that tonight before bed we'll play one more time. This time we'll find out we're brushing our teeth!
I think on our play nights with friends and cousins this will be a fun game. I'm probably going to remake the notebooks and clues. Still we had a great fun time together!
