We call our refrigerator our "gallery" but I like displaying things in a variety of ways. I'd like to show you!
This one has a bit of a story.
I had been wanting to do this for some time. So I dug out the pressed roses he'd given me. Then I went through the wonderful cards we'd exchanged..
(He's also one of those amazing guys who writes me a love letter in every single card.- I'm spoiled. I know).
i'm spoiled I know. Prince charming could take notes.
Here's the step by step:
Tools:
Glue stick
Hot Glue gun
Paper base (that fits frame size)
collage items
Found a back sheet for a base (the paper insert that comes with the frame works well if you don't have set paper in mind- plus it's perfectly sized)
I used my glue stick to glue on my card and photo. (The hot glue would damage the card and photo so it's best to have both)
Then I lightly used my hot glue to adhere the pressed flowers and my glue stick on the loose petals.
I then put it into my frame- this was a simple dollar tree frame it held it all together nicely. While the pressure of the glass to the back of the frame does keep things secure- over time things slip downward. Gravity. That's why it's best to use a touch (never a large amount) of glue.
I have pressed flowers from my Grandfather's funeral and will be making a similar collage! I'll be sure to post how that turns out as well. I made this for our two year anniversary and it was something special and displays other special moments from our marriage.
celebrating a special child.
I placed a few of my favorites that I thought went well together and a few fun pictures of him and using a glue stick- glued them to a paper backing.
These are both a part of a larger wall collage. My wall is almost complete and soon I'll post so you can all see. I love displays of family and I love to foster creativity. My husband has framed some of my work- and K gets the encouragement of knowing his art is just as good.
